Overview
It wasn't too many years ago that no one cared about wastewater cleanup, water reuse, or even lint collection from a wet lint collector. Today, it is a necessity for staying in business or just controlling operating costs. City sewer systems are no longer able to accept laundry wastewater without at least micron level screening of suspended solids. In cases where they will accept it unscreened, they have such high surcharges for suspended solids, that it becomes very economically attractive to pre-screen the water before discharging it to the sewer. An extra benefit is that, with proper engineering, most collections pits can be made self-cleaning. Improve Your Existing Heat Reclaimer’s Performance With Thermal Engineering's Wastewater Filtering Technology. Existing Shell & Tube type heat reclaimers can have all the benefits of Thermal Engineering’s wastewater filtering technology. Our Shaker Screens will effectively filter all suspended solids above mesh size from your laundry wastewater allowing it, in most cases, to be discharged directly to the sewer without further treatment. Additionally, by filtering the wastewater before it enters your heat reclaimer it will remain cleaner and exchange heat more efficiently. The more efficient a heat exchanger remains the greater your savings will be.
Automatic Pit Cleaning
Thermal Engineering has developed a low cost laundry wastewater clean-up system which is unmatched in the industry. It starts right in the wastewater collection pit. Almost any shape pit can be made 100% maintenance free with our Pit Turbo-Swirler. A POWERFUL VORTEX is generated in the pit which automatically moves solids towards the center. The heat reclaimer sump pump suction pipe is located in the middle of the pit where it removes not only the hot wastewater for heat recovery but also the solids being swept towards the pits center. No pit screen box stations are required and should be removed. This will totally eliminate the nuisance of hand scraping the screen box perforated plates, necessary to keep your shell and tube reclaimer functioning. The hot water and entrained suspended solids are now discharged onto our Shaker Screen.
The TEA Shaker Screen
Laundry wastewater can be very effectively filtered with TEA’S Shaker Screen. A small motor produces a gyratory motion that results in a combination horizontal and vertical movement of the fine filtering screen. The resulting motion separates the laundry dirt and suspended solids from the hot wastewater. The filter screen will remove all solids above screen mesh size and deposit them in a collection barrel for disposal. For special cases, screens can be provided to remove solids down to .003", the diameter of human hair.
The filtered hot wastewater can now be pumped through your shell and tube heat reclaimer for maximum performance. Heat loss for this entire process has been measured at an insignificant fraction of a degree.
